8430 - BOMB THREAT

While the likelihood of a bomb actually being placed in a school is very remote, the Board of Education believes the following steps should be taken to ensure the safety of students and staff:

A. Police will be contacted and requested to investigate. Police may enlist the assistance of outside help.

B.The Superintendent's Office will be contacted.

C.Students and staff will be evacuated from the building upon the decision of the building principal.

Administrators, building engineers, and maintenance personnel will assist and cooperate with police authorities.

The Superintendent may contact the Board President.

Police and school authorities will make every effort to determine who made the bomb threat call. If an individual is apprehended, s/he shall be prosecuted to the fullest extent permitted by law. If a student is involved, the Student Code of Conduct will be enforced to its fullest and the matter referred to the appropriate court.
