5751 - PARENTAL-MARRIED STATUS OF STUDENTS

Educational opportunities are part of the value system of a free society, and education in our increasingly complex and technological society is a prerequisite for the opportunity to lead a full and productive life. Therefore, the Board affirms the right of a pregnant or married student to continue his/her participation in the public school program.

No student who is otherwise eligible to attend the schools of this District shall be denied an educational program solely because of pregnancy, marriage, childbirth, pregnancy-related disabilities, or actual or potential parenthood.

An individual program will be established that may include, but not be limited to, home instruction, regular school attendance with scheduling modifications, or enrollment in the Grads program. Every effort will be made to assure that the educational program of the student is disrupted as little as possible.
