2431.01 - ELIGIBILITY STANDARDS

The Board of Education shall determine the standards of eligibility to be met by all students participating in the interscholastic program. Such standards shall require that each student be in good physical condition, be free of injury, and have fully recovered from illness before participating in any interscholastic athletic event. In addition to the eligibility requirements established by the Ohio High School Athletic Association, to be eligible for any interscholastic co-curricular activity, a student must have maintained at least a 2.0 grade-point average for the grading period prior to the grading period in which s/he wishes to participate. A student may still participate with a grade of "F", providing that the above standards are met.

If a student becomes ineligible under these standards but does not fall below a 1.0 grade point average, the student will receive a two (2) week grace period and then must complete a biweekly eligibility sheet with satisfactory progress (validated by a school administrator) in order to continue to participate. This procedure will last for the entire grading period.

These same eligibility standards shall apply to all other co-curricular activities sponsored by the District.
