1230 - SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS
The Superintendent of Schools shall strive to achieve District goals for students by providing educational direction and supervision to the professional staff and supervision to the nonteaching staff and by acting as a proper model for staff and students both in the school and outside the District.
Major Responsibilities
| A. | General administration of the schools and supervision of the educational program in conformity with the adopted policies of the Board, the rules and regulations of the State Department of Education, and laws of the State of Ohio. | ||
| B. | Leadership in the formation of school policies, and presentation to the Board of information needed in the development and evaluation of policies. | ||
| C. | Development of administrative principles and procedures for implementing policies adopted by the Board. | ||
| D. | Building the necessary organization for effective functioning of the school system, and development of a spirit of purpose and cooperation among its members. | ||
| E. | Regulating the decision-making process to facilitate accomplishment of the objectives of the organization. | ||
| F. | Recommendation of personnel for appointment, dismissal, promotion and demotion; and assignment and orientation of personnel appointed by the Board. | ||
| G. | Placing employees on the correct level of the salary schedule; supervising the processing of personnel records including certification, verification of experience, and all types of leave; and interpreting personnel policies to staff members. | ||
| H. | Delegation of duties to and direction of the work of other staff members. | ||
| I. | Continuous evaluation of the programs and services of the School District. | ||
| J. | Providing regular reports to the Board on all phases of operation of the School System. | ||
| K. | Maintaining close liaison with the community and professional staff and providing continuous information on the educational program and general operation of the School System, its objectives, and its present and future needs. | ||
| L. | General supervision of budget development and management. | ||
| M. | Preparation, with the assistance of the Treasurer, of the Agenda for meetings of the Board of Education. |
