3123 - ENTRY-YEAR PROGRAM FOR PROFESSIONAL STAFF

The Board of Education intends to provide all first year professional staff members a year-long program of orientation, assistance, and support during their first year of employment in the District.

 A."Entry-year program" means a program of support provided by a school district to meet the unique needs of an individual in the first year of employment under a classroom teaching certificate or an educational personnel certificate.

 B."Mentor" means a person assigned to provide professional support to an individual in the first year of employment under a classroom teaching certificate or an educational personnel certificate.

The Board of Education will implement this policy by means of an Entry-Year Mentor plan to be reviewed by the Board every five (5) years.

The Board directs the Superintendent to develop administrative guidelines to implement this policy.

The Board reserves the right to develop a plan cooperatively with other districts to achieve the intent of this policy.
