2370.02 - DUAL ENROLLMENT PROGRAMS

The Board of Education recognizes the value to students and to the District for students to participate in programs offered by accredited colleges and universities in Michigan.

The Board will allow high school students who meet the criteria to enroll in approved postsecondary programs while in attendance in the District. Students will be eligible to receive secondary credit for completing any of these programs providing they meet the established requirements.

The Superintendent shall establish the necessary administrative guidelines to ensure that such programs are in accord with State regulations and are properly communicated to both the students and their parents. The Superintendent shall also establish guidelines and procedures for the awarding of credit and the proper entry on a student's transcript and other records of their participation in a postsecondary program. Students will receive a grade on their college transcript for all dual enrollment courses. These grades will not be included in the high school grade point average.

Tuition and fees shall be made in accordance with the formulas established in the State School-Aid Act.

The Superintendent is authorized to allow a college or university to conduct courses on District property for which District students can receive dual credit provided there is available space, the conduct of the courses does not interfere with District instruction, and the institution agrees to pay the fees established by the Superintendent.
