3365 - EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The C-Tec of Licking Co. School Board recognizes that a wide range of problems not directly associated with an employee's job description can have an adverse effect upon how an employee performs his/her work. While in most cases employees overcome such problems without assistance from others and in a manner that the effect upon their job performance is negligible, in some instances supervisory assistance is needed either as motivation or guidance, to help an employee with the resolution of person problems so that his/her job performance can return to a satisfactory level.

The Board believes that it is in the interest of the employee and his/her family to have available a referral service which can provide assistance when persistent personal problems occur. Therefore, it is the policy of the Board to treat problems of this nature as follows.

A.When a supervisor observes that an employee's job performance is being adversely and repeatedly affected by his/her personal problems, the supervisor shall refer the employee to the appropriate assistance service in an effective and confidential manner.

B.Employees are assured that participation in an assistance program will be looked upon as a positive effort on the part of any involved personnel to improve factors which may be adversely affecting job performance.

C.Employees who participate in an assistance program are further assured that referrals will be preserved in the highest degree of confidence.

D.Employees who have a problem which they feel may affect job performance are encouraged to seek assistance voluntarily by contacting the designated employee assistance program coordinator or the designated agency itself.

E.Since employee job performance can also be adversely affected by the problems of the employee's spouse or family, personnel should be aware that the assistance program is available to the families of employees as well.
