1330 - EVALUATION OF TREASURER

The Board of Education will evaluate the performance of the Treasurer in order to assist both the Board and the Treasurer in the proper discharge of their responsibilities and to enable the Board to provide the District with the best possible leadership.

The objectives of the Board's evaluation shall be to:

 A.provide a basis for the review of the Treasurer's performance

 B.improve the quality of District educational services

 C.promote professional excellence and improve the skills of the Treasurer

The Treasurer shall be evaluated annually by the Board of Education, which may choose to be assisted or advised in this process by a consultant. The evaluation will be based on the job description for the position of Treasurer and this policy.

The job description and any revisions thereto shall be developed in consultation with the Treasurer and Superintendent and adopted by the Board.

This policy shall be distributed to the Treasurer upon its adoption, and amendments hereto shall be distributed within ten (10) working days after their adoption.

Criteria for the evaluation of the Treasurer shall be based upon the job description and shall relate directly to each of the tasks described therein. Each criterion shall be brief and shall focus on a major function of the position, be based on observable information in addition to factors requiring subjective judgment, and be written in the same format.

Maintenance of the evaluation criteria shall be the responsibility of the Board of Education. Evaluation criteria shall be reviewed as necessary but not less than annually and upon any revision of the Treasurer's job description. Any proposed revision of the evaluation criteria shall be provided to the Treasurer for his/her comments before its adoption.

Data for the evaluation of the Treasurer may be gathered by any one or more of the following methods:

 A.Direct observation

 B.Review of a document produced in the performance of assigned duties

 C.Interviews with the Treasurer regarding his/her knowledge of assigned duties

 D.Reference to previous performance reports

An annual summary conference may be conducted by the Board and the Superintendent before the annual performance report of the Treasurer is filed in the personnel record. The conference shall be held in private, unless the Treasurer requests that it be held in public.
