8220 - SCHOOL DAY

The Board of Education specifies the times that school shall be in session for the purpose of ensuring adequate instruction for the students of this District.

The schools of the District shall be in session for students on those days specified by the Board.

The regular school session may be temporarily altered, when such alteration is feasible and advisable in the best interests of the students of the District, by the Superintendent.

In the event of disease, epidemic, hazardous weather conditions, damage to a school building, or the temporary unfitness of a school building due to utility failure, the Board may close the schools, delay the opening of schools, or dismiss school early.

The Superintendent shall have the authority to determine which school-related activities may be conducted if the schools are closed for a period of time. S/He shall prepare appropriate guidelines for communication to students, parents, and others regarding the scheduling and the conduct of such activities.
