7600 - VEHICULAR DAMAGE TO SCHOOL PROPERTY
It is the intent of the Leipsic Local Board of Education to provide for the protection of all buildings, equipment, and grounds from theft, vandalism, mischief, and deliberate destruction.
Full cooperation of all school personnel will be granted to the local law enforcement agencies in order to reduce incidences and to apprehend violators.
In all cases, the Board of Education requires the guilty offender to reimburse said Board of Education for the damage incurred or theft of school equipment or materials.
| A. | Vehicular Trespassing |
It shall be the policy of the Leipsic Local School Board to restrict all traffic by automobiles, trucks, motorcycles, mopeds, A.T.V., and snowmobiles to the paved or stone driveway area.
Individuals driving such vehicles on the lawn, football field, baseball diamond, and/or practice areas will be in violation of said policy and will be in violation of said policy and will be referred to the local law enforcement agency for trespassing and damage to the site.
If found guilty as charged by the local or county court system, said violator will be expected to make either full or partial restitution to the Leipsic Local Board of Education for any damage done to the site.
The amount of restitution assessed will be dependent upon the estimated damage done to the site. All estimates are to be made by the school administrator.
Organized parking such as is permitted for football games and graduation services exempts one from possible trespassing charges, but not from a charge of deliberate damage to the grounds.
| B. | Damage to Equipment, Buses, or the Buildings |
Any violator, be it student or adult, will be required to reimburse the Board of Education for the cost of any damage incurred to property belonging to the Leipsic School System.
The Superintendent will evaluate whether to assess the violator on replacement cost or repair cost.
Any violators damaging the property during non-school hours will be referred to the local police and charged with trespassing, breaking and entering, and/or malicious damage.
Non-students will be charged and referred to local police whenever they are apprehended stealing or damaging property.
Students will be required to pay for all damages and/or theft which may occur during school hours. Referral to the legal authorities will be made if such action is needed to rehabilitate said violator. Parents are to be informed of all thefts and deliberate damage.
