7540.03 - STUDENT TECHNOLOGY RESOURCES USE POLICY

As a member of the Northwest Ohio Area Computer Services Cooperative (NOACSC), Leipsic Local Schools is able to provide its students with internet access, which connects thousands of computers all over the world. Along with the privileges of accessing the Internet, goes the responsibility of following strict guidelines or proper conduct.

Lepsic Local Schools reserves the right to limit access to materials on this network which may not have educational value within the school setting, and has taken available precautions to restrict student access to inappropriate materials. Use of the schools network is a privilege, not a right. Inappropriate use will RESULT IN A CANCELLATION of those privileges. The Leipsic Local School District administrators will deem what is inappropriate use and THEIR DECISION IS FINAL. Also, the Leipsic Local School District administrators may request the Technology Coordinator to close an account at any time as required and delete the data that is considered inappropriate. The administration, faculty, and staff of the Leipsic Local School District MAY REQUEST THE TECH COORDINATOR TO DENY, REVOKE OR SUSPEND SPECIFIC USER ACCOUNTS.

 A.COMPUTER USE GUIDELINES

  1.No unsupervised Internet use.

  2.Programs such as ICQ, MSN Messenger, AIM, or any other instant message programs are not allowed at any time.

  3.Inappropriate use of the Internet or the computer will result in a referral to the principal and could result in denial of computer access.

 B.NETWORK ETIQUETTE
  Your will abide by the generally accepted rules of network etiquette. These include, but are not limited to the following:

  1.Do not access any sites, which may contain material not suited for educational purposes or appropriate in an educational setting.

  2.Be polite. Do not use abusive language in your messages to others. Use appropratio language. DO NOT swear, use vulgarities or other inappropriate language. Illegal activities are strictly forbidden.

  3.DO NOT USE the network in such a way that you would disrupt the use of the network by others.

  4.DO NOT REVEAL your personal address phone number or those of students or colleagues to anyone.

  5.The violation of any of the above stated rules will result in user loss of computer privileges while in Leipsic Local School District.

 C.AGREEMENT
  I have read, understand, and agree to comply with the foregoing guidelines, rules, and conditions governing the use of Leipsic Local School District's computers and network equipment and services. I understand that I have no expectation of privacy when I use any of the equipment and services. I am aware that violations of these guidelines may subject me to disciplinary action including any legal action and criminal liability. I further understand that this document can be amended at any time.
