4432 - SICK LEAVE
Accumulation and Use
| A. | Classified personnel shall be credited one and one-fourth (1-1/4) days per month (maximum - fifteen (15) days per year) accumulative to a total of 150 days as sick leave. | ||
| B. | Interpretation and application of sick leave credit shall be the responsibility of the Superintendent. |
The one and one-fourth (1 1/4) days per month shall be credited at the conclusion of the work for the month.
| C. | School employees coming into the school system, who have no recognized accumulated sick leave, will be granted five (5) days of sick leave at the beginning of the school year. The amount of sick leave is an advance of earned sick leave for the first four (4) months of service. | ||
| D. | Sick leave credit may be used for: |
| 1. | personal illness or injury of employee; | |||
| 2. | serious illness or injury of member of immediate family - immediate family includes: spouse, son, daughter, or any member of the household residing in the home of the employee and under their direct care and supervision; | |||
| 3. | death in the immediate family and parents, brother, sister, grandparents, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews of teacher or spouse. |
Any exception to the aforesaid in the best interest of the school and the employee shall be at the discretion of the Superintendent.
The Superintendent may require the employee to furnish evidence to the effect that the absence was due to illness or to any of the foregoing causes.
Application for use of sick leave must be filed with the building principal and directed to the Superintendent for approval.
