2230 - COURSES OF STUDY

A course of study may be prepared for each program in order to direct and assist the professional staff toward the attainment of goals.

Each course of study shall contain:

 A.an intended learning outcome.

 B.knowledge skills, attitudes and values needed to achieve those outcomes.

 C.learning activities needed to achieve the outcome.

 D.appropriate materials and resources.

 E.an evaluation criteria and methods which will confirm the extent to which learning outcomes have been achieved.

Each professional staff member shall provide instruction in accordance with the course of study. Any deviation from its content must be approved by the Superintendent, in advance.

Each course of study is intended to provide a basic framework for instruction and learning. Within this framework, each teacher shall use the course of study in a manner best designed to meet the needs of the students for whom s/he is responsible.

The Superintendent shall be responsible for the preparation of course of study and shall develop a plan for such preparation which includes a system of administrative review to ensure that courses of study are being followed by teaching staff members to the degree of conformity desired by this Board.

Whenever new courses of study are developed or existing ones revised, copies of these additions or changes must be made available to the Board for review. The Board retains the right to reject any additions, changes and deletions to the presently approved courses of study.

Copies of all current curriculum guides shall be kept on file in the office of the Superintendent.

It shall be assumed that only those courses of study represented by curriculum guides on file constitute courses of study officially adopted by this Board.
