2110 - STATEMENT OF PHILOSOPHY

The responsibility of our school is to project the ideals of our democracy and to create a conscious expression of our American heritage sufficient to conform to the conditions of a changing world. Therefore, our curriculum must be directed towards the needs of our students.

Recognizing the changing nature of youth, we should strive to adjust our curriculum to individual abilities and limitations so that all students will be given the greatest opportunity for educational growth. Along with the adjusted curriculum we need to realize the desire for specialized education so that students of all levels of intelligence can be gainfully employed after high school.

The teacher must be concerned with individual differences and thus show the student where he has been born, where he is now, and where he wants to go in the future. There should be a working relationship between teacher and student such that there is a maximum learning atmosphere. We believe in the maintenance of high standards of leadership, which can be accomplished by in-service training by our teachers in order to adopt new and better methods of teaching.

The school must be concerned with all phases of the growth of the student as an individual. Therefore, we encourage the student to participate in inter-curricular and extra-curricular activities and inter-scholastic competition, as well as other school related functions. Guided judgment toward student promotion in course selection must be determined by the student's capabilities and/or limitations.

In order to achieve our goal of an effective educational system, the students, parents, faculty, and administration must work together.
