2110 - STATEMENT OF PHILOSOPHY

The Board is committed to providing a program of education which is consistent with the following tenets:

 A.Education will contribute to the continuous improvement of our democratic society and the cultures which exist through the development of concerned, contributing, and patriotic citizens.

 B.The dignity and worth of the individual will be respected; each individual should be given the opportunity to participate in our society to the best of his ability.

 C.The educational program should be conducive to the optimum intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of all youth and adult.

 D.Basic knowledge, skills, understandings, and appreciations are necessary for full-life functioning.

 E.The immediate and projected personal and societal needs of our students will receive continuous appraisal.

 F.The development of self-appraisal skills, decision-making techniques, and self-discipline by our students should help them in assuming the responsibility for setting realistic immediate and long-range personal, academic, and career goals.

 G.The development of moral and ethic values on the part of youth is an important aspect of personal maturity, for which the parents/guardians should assume the primary responsibility; however, the schools will strive to reinforce their efforts.

 H.Continuous mental and emotional growth and development should be promoted through the maintenance of a personalized and appropriate educational program for our youth.

 I.Self-realization and self-expression will be encouraged.

 J.The development and implementation of a program of continuous evaluation based upon stated goals and objectives are necessary for effective program revision and improvement.
