Kent City Community Schools
Bylaws & Policies

The Board of Education accepts as policy the philosophy of the Community School Program. The Board believes that education is a continuous process throughout life and supports the position that the District should cooperate with other community agencies in providing educational, cultural, and recreational opportunities for all of its citizens.

The school, in this setting, becomes a force for community service and improvement; and the values the community seeks for children in the regular school program are, thus, available for all citizens through the community school program.

The Board shall provide community education programs in the evening and day for youths who have completed twelfth (12th) grade and any person over the age of eighteen (18) years.

The Board also shall provide an adult basic high school continuation for youths over the age of sixteen (16) who are not attending high school in the schools of this District as an opportunity to complete their requirements for a high school diploma.

The purpose of community education programs shall be to meet the academic, vocational, avocational, cultural, and aesthetic interests of the community.

The Superintendent shall develop and implement a plan whereby the schools are available to citizens of the community for educational purposes.
