The School Board is committed to providing curriculum and instruction of such quality as to ensure that all children, regardless of individual differences are challenged to reach the highest level of achievement consistent with their ability. Gifted/talented children should have educational experiences which help them meet their full potential and enable them to enter creative leadership positions in society.

Gifted students shall be considered those who, through valid assessment, show one (1) or more of the following abilities:

 A.specific academic ability superior to that of children of the same age or grade level

 B.creative ability in a particular area superior to that of his/her peers

 C.superior leadership ability to that of his/her peers

The learning outcomes of a program for gifted students may be related to:

 A.expansion of academic attainments and intellectual skills;

 B.stimulation of and development of the seven intelligences identified by Gardmer;

 C.development of originality and creativity;

 D.development of positive attitude toward self;

 E.development of desirable social and leadership skills;

The Superintendent and Broad Based Planning Committee shall develop administrative guidelines which shall include those for identification, curriculum differentiation, implementation, and assessment of the learning outcomes.
