9600.01 - STAFF/STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES IN COMMUNITY RELATIONS

Staff Responsibilities

Efforts to achieve effective school-community relations are the responsibility of all school staff. The role of Corporation staff in this effort is that of showing parents and the community the work of the Corporation, and of building and maintaining friendly and cooperative relations between the Corporation and the community.

School staff can promote effective school-community relations by:

 A.adhering to an exemplary pattern of behavior acceptable by the community;

 B.performing the duties of citizenship and participating in community activities as feasible, considering their obligations to the Corporation, their family, and themselves;

 C.respecting the community in which they are employed and being loyal to the Corporation, community, State, and nation;

 D.working to improve education in the community, and to strengthen the intellectual and cultural life of the community;

 E.extending a cordial welcome to parents and interested citizens who express interest or concern regarding any operations of the Corporation.

Student Responsibilities

The School Board requests that students, as individuals and as a group, recognize the energies spent by the Corporation and the community to provide appropriate educational programs for the youth of the school community. The Board strongly encourages students to use every opportunity to show their best behavior to the community, their courtesy to school visitors, and in dealings with the community. Positive student example is most helpful in establishing and maintain desired community relations and directly enables the Corporation to give better service to students through the educational program.

Staff Recognition of Students

Employees of the Corporation shall not present to students any gifts, awards, or privileges which may be interpreted as an endorsement of special status other than those gifts, awards, or privileges received through competition in regularly established programs, or through their own school achievements.
