2451 - ALTERNATIVE PLACEMENT AND LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES
The Board of Education is committed to provide school programs that are appropriate for all students. The Board also recognizes that the regular school program may not satisfy the needs of all students.
In the event that a student is determined to be at risk of failing to meet the Illinois Learning Standards and the student meets the enrollment requirements as discussed in AG 2451 the district shall discuss enrolling the student with alternate learning opportunities and/or placement with the student's parent(s) or guardian(s) after providing the parent or guardian with written notice and holding a conference as discussed in AG 2451. The purpose of alternative learning opportunities is to assist the student to complete their education in an orderly, safe, and secure learning environment and to assist
students at risk of academic failure by providing a learning environment, programs, support services, and resources that will help them to satisfy the Illinois Learning Standards and to graduate from elementary or high school.The Board directs the Superintendent to develop guidelines that satisfy the Board’s commitment to meet the learning needs of all students. Guidelines should include:
| A. | admission and transfer of students to the alternative opportunities; | ||
| B. | transitioning students back to the regular program; | ||
| C. | elements of the Student Success Plan; and |
D. procedure for assessing students.
