6322 - PURCHASE OF FOOD AND DRINK FOR MEETINGS

The Board of School Trustees authorizes the Superintendent or the Superintendent’s designee to establish professional development activities and programs and other in-service, program review and orientation experiences and to increase the efficient use of the participant’s time by providing food and/or snacks as a part of these activities, programs and experiences. These activities, programs and experiences include but are not limited to staff development, curriculum development, collective bargaining, Board of School Trustees’ meetings and executive sessions and administrative meetings.

If these activities were outside Clark County, Indiana, they would be considered conference expenses; the Board has determined that it will save taxpayer funds to hold these activities, programs and experiences in Clark County, Indiana, to accomplish the same purposes that would be accomplished if they were held outside Clark County, Indiana.

General Fund appropriations in addition to the appropriation for Promotion Expenses may be used to provide the funds for these activities because the Board of School Trustees has concluded that these activities are not promotional; they are activities undertaken to fulfill the Board’s responsibilities to manage the School Corporation and to provide quality educational programming. Under no circumstances shall the School Corporation pay for alcohol.
