5462 - SEMESTER/TERM EXAM

ALL students enrolled in classes for graduation credit must take a comprehensive semester/term exam in ALL classes. This semester/term exam will count fifteen percent (15%) of the final semester/term grade.

A waiver of the required semester/term exam will be granted to any student who has maintained an A or B average for EACH of the nine (9) week marking periods during that semester/term. This waiver is intended to provide an academic incentive for students to strive to achieve above mastery or exemplary knowledge of the material. If a student is exempt from the exam, the final grade for the class will be the average of the two (2) nine (9) weeks grades.

Students who are exempt from the exam shall have the option of taking the exam to improve their grade. The exam score will only be used if it improves the exempt student's average.

A waiver of the required semester/term exam will be granted to any class required by the West Virginia Department of Education to give an End-of-Course Exam. The score on the EOC will be used in lieu of the semester/term exam in determining the final grade for the class.
