5460.01 - HIGH SCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION WAIVER
The Fremont City Schools Board of Education recognizes that some students who participate in high school interscholastic athletics, marching band, and/or cheerleading may wish to be excused from participating in the State mandated one-half unit physical education courses.
Per the Ohio Core Physical Education Requirements as required by RC. 3313.603, students (graduation class of 2011 and beyond) may be excused from high school physical education courses if the following conditions are met:
| A. | Students must complete at least two (2) full seasons of interscholastic athletics, marching band or cheerleading. | ||
| B. | Students must complete one-half unit consisting of at least sixty (60) hours of instruction in another course of study. | ||
| C. | Students and parents must complete, sign and return the Physical Education Waiver Form to the high school guidance office by June 30th for the subsequent school year. |
The Superintendent shall establish the necessary administrative guidelines in order to comply with State rules and regulations. Additionally, the administrative guidelines will address frequently asked questions and clarify procedures for students applying for a waiver from high school physical education courses.
