2431.01 - CLUB SPORTS

The Board of Education recognizes the value to the students of the District and to the community of a program of Club Sports as part of the total school experience.

The game activities and practice sessions should provide many opportunities to teach the values of competition and good sportsmanship.

The program of Club Sports should provide students the opportunity to exercise and test their athletic abilities in a context greater and more varied than that which can be offered by a school or the School District alone. It should also offer an opportunity for career and educational development.

For purposes of this policy, the program of interscholastic athletics shall include all Club Sports officially recognized by the Board.

All students and advisors must follow the Ross High School academic/OHSAA eligibility standards and participation in Fremont Ross High School Club Sports will be determined by those guidelines. The principal or their designee along with the advisors will be responsible for ensuring those standards are met. There will be a minimum of fifteen (15) participants per club sport and the advisors will be responsible for scheduling all games with final approval from the building principal.

All Club Sports will be self-funded, and the advisors will submit their budget for approval to the building principal. All student activity guidelines established by the Fremont City Schools Board of Education must be followed. A copy of the student activity guidelines will be given to the club advisor/coach at the beginning of each school year.

Each student participant will be responsible for financial obligations established by the club. Club Sports will be given the same recognition as any varsity sport at Fremont Ross High School. They will be recognized at PEP assemblies, athletic recognition events and will receive the same varsity letter as any other sport.
