2261.03 - TITLE I MIGRANT EDUCATION - PARENT INVOLVEMENT
Parents of migrant children will be given the opportunity to contribute to the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of the Title I migrant education program via meetings, evaluations, and written and oral communication with the migrant education staff. Migrant parents will be informed of all aspects of the Title I migrant education program.
Procedures:
| A. | Inservice training designed to prepare staff to work with migrant parents will be provided. | ||
| B. | Explanation of program requirements and/or objectives will be offered during conferences and meetings. | ||
| C. | Ongoing parent consultation and opportunities to participate will be provided through evaluation/surveys, home/school communications, individual and group meetings, report cards, home visits, workshops, and volunteer/paid services in the program. | ||
| D. | Parents with limited English language proficiency will be assured of participation in the Title I migrant education program through written and/or oral communication in their native language. | ||
| E. | Parents and staff will be consulted in the development of the written Title I Migrant Education Parent Involvement Policy. | ||
| F. | The annual meeting will be scheduled during the summer when most of the parents are in the area. Parents of all eligible children will be invited. | ||
| G. | Report cards will be provided to parents during the program. Parents will be offered conference opportunities to discuss their child's progress, class placement, and methods to help their child. Parents will be invited to observe the Title I migrant education classroom and Title I migrant education personnel will be readily accessible to parents. |
