3242 - PROFESSIONAL GROWTH REQUIREMENTS

The Board of School Trustees believes that study is a prerequisite for professional growth of staff and, therefore, encourages the participation of professional staff members in in-service and other training programs.

The Superintendent may plan and implement a program of staff development for professional staff members, support staff members, and explore other training programs.

The Board may reimburse staff members for the costs incurred in participation therein.

"Normally, participation in a particular staff development program shall be voluntary and shall not be considered part of the duties of any participating staff member. However, a staff member may be required to demonstrate knowledge and skills in a particular area that may require the staff member to obtain additional training.
