5460.01 - ADULT AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION

Credit from Ferndale Adult and Community Education for Ferndale High School Students

 A.A senior is any student who has earned the minimum number of credits to be accorded official senior status as stated by Board Policy.

 B.No student will be allowed to take more than two (2) classes (one (1) credit) per semester and:

  1.the student must hold official senior status except as approved by the high school administrator.

  2.successful completion of the Adult and Community Education class(es) must enable the student to graduate with his/her class.

  3.the student must be carrying a full schedule at Ferndale High School.

  4.the student will be limited to having a maximum of two (2) credits earned through the Adult and Community Education Program apply toward his/her graduation requirements.

 C.A student who has not achieved the required number of credits to graduate within the four (4) years of attendance at Ferndale High School is invited to:

  1.return to Ferndale High School for an additional semester or year,

  2.complete the credits at summer school, or '

  3.return the following fall as a Ferndale Adult and Community Education student.

 D.Any student who has dropped out of school prior to completing four (4) years of attendance will be required to be sixteen years of age as of September first of that school year and out of school for at least one (1) semester before entering the Ferndale Adult and Community Education Program.

 E.A student who has attended Ferndale High School for four (4) years but failed to graduate with his/her graduating class is allowed to waive the one (1) semester out of school waiting requirement to attend Ferndale Adult and Community Education.

 F.No student may attend any adult, community, or continuing education program and apply his/her credits towards graduating from Ferndale High School without written permission from the Ferndale High School Principal or his/her designee. This written permission may be a counselor referral form with authorized signature(s).

 G.No deviation from this policy will be allowed without permission from the Ferndale Adult Education Director or his/her designee and the Ferndale High School Administrator or his/her designee.
