9270 - EQUIVALENT EDUCATION OUTSIDE THE SCHOOLS (HOME SCHOOLING)

The Board of Education encourages the enrollment of all school-age children resident in this District in public schools or in approved parochial or private schools so that they may enjoy the benefits of a well-planned, educational program and the socialization possible in a group environment. The Board acknowledges, however, the right of parents to home school within the District, as established by State law.

The Board shall not allow a student who is being educated at home or at a nondistrict school that has not met the reporting requirements of the State to participate in any of the District's curricular, co-curricular, or extra-curricular activities. It is not the purpose of this policy, however, to provide services to nondistrict students beyond the requirements of the law.

The Superintendent shall develop administrative guidelines for implementing this policy.
