8651 - NONROUTINE USE OF SCHOOL BUSES
The Board of Education will permit school vehicles, owned or leased by this District, to be used to transport groups of senior citizens and retired persons, in accordance with law, when the Board determines that suitable, economically feasible public or private transportation is not available.
The transportation of senior citizens shall be limited to those hours and days when vehicles are not required for the transportation of students. The Board reserves the right to refuse or cancel any senior citizen transportation in the interests of the educational program or the efficient operation of the District.
Vehicles shall be operated by the holder of a valid bus driver's license. The license, a medical examiners certificate, and a record of continuing education must be in the driver's possession when driving. The cost of senior citizen transportation shall be reimbursed to the District in accordance with a formula established in the District's administrative guidelines.
A field trip request form for senior citizen transportation shall be filed no less than one (1) week prior to the planned trip and shall be approved by the Superintendent.
