8430 - BOMB THREAT
In the event of a bomb threat or the actual discovery of a bomb or an apparent bomb, the Board of Education requires the following steps shall be taken to ensure the safety of students and staff:
| A. | Students and staff shall be evacuated from the building upon the decision of the principal. | ||
| The Superintendent shall be notified of the principal's decision. | |||
| B. | Police shall be contacted and requested to investigate and may enlist the assistance of outside help who may have access to school buildings as is allowed the police. |
Administrators, building engineers and maintenance personnel shall assist and cooperate with police authorities, but shall not be required to enter the threatened building.
The Superintendent shall contact the Board President.
Police and school authorities shall make every effort to determine who placed the bomb or apparent bomb or who made the bomb threat call. If an individual is apprehended, s/he shall be prosecuted to the fullest extent permitted by law. If a student is involved, the Student Code of Conduct shall be enforced to its fullest and the matter referred to the appropriate court.
