7230 - GIFTS, GRANTS, AND BEQUESTS

The Board of Education greatly appreciates public interest in and good-will toward the schools as manifested by gifts, grants and bequests, and intends to show appreciation by attempting to carry out the wishes of the donor of each one accepted.

7230.1

Conditions of Acceptance

   
 

The Board reserves the right to specify the manner in which gifts are made and to define the type of gift, grant or bequest it considers appropriate. The Board also reserves the right to reject those to which inappropriate conditions are attached and those which it deems inappropriate or unsuitable.

   
 

All gifts, grants or bequests having a value in excess of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) shall be accepted by the Board. Items of lesser value may be accepted or rejected by the Superintendent acting as agent for the Board.

   
 

Gifts, grants and bequests, once accepted, shall become the property of the District and shall immediately be subject to all rules and regulations applicable to other properties, equipment, materials and/or funds owned by the District.

Donations of Equipment

   
 

Any proposal or plan by an individual or organization to purchase equipment for District use shall be submitted to the Board prior to purchase.

   
 

The Board shall assess the potential liability to the District which may result from the purchase and use of the proposed equipment, and may choose not to accept such liability by rejecting the proposal and/or denying the use in the schools of such equipment by students and/or employees of the District.
