The Board of Education recognizes that token awards and memorials in recognition for outstanding service rendered to the District contribute to the promotion of quality educational programs, the improvement of community relations, the development of rapport with the business community and the encouragement of persons to volunteer for services supporting the general welfare of our children.

The Board, therefore, authorizes the presentation of plaques, pins, token retirement gifts and awards, recognition dinners and other amenities in honor of any person or group of persons who has, in the judgment of the Board or the administration, made any outstanding contribution(s) of a service nature to the District.

Expenses for such awards shall be paid from the District's General Fund, but the awarding of cash or cash equivalents from the General Fund under this policy is prohibited.
