2605 - DISTRICT EDUCATIONAL ACCOUNTABILITY PROCEDURE

The Board of Education believes that the results produced from the educational resources provided by the community and government must be properly evaluated in order for education within the District to remain effective, and therefore charges the Superintendent with the responsibility to establish a District Educational Accountability Procedure which shall be a continuing program designed to accomplish such evaluation.

All elements of the District Educational Accountability Procedure shall be carried out by the professional employees of the District under the overall supervision of the Superintendent who may appropriately delegate responsibilities for performance through his/her chain of command.

The Superintendent shall maintain a calendar of assessment activities and shall make periodic evaluation reports to the Board. At least once per year s/he shall recommend improvements in the District's overall educational program based upon findings and recommendations generated by the District Educational Accountability Procedure and by school improvement plans developed for the District.

The District Educational Accountability Procedure shall apply to all educational programs of the District, and each evaluation shall include the following elements:

 A.Clear statements of the expectations and purposes of the program coupled with specifications of how successful achievement will be determined.

 B.A statement of the staff, resources, and support necessary to achieve the program's purposes.

 C.An assessment of the extent to which the program's purposes and objectives are being achieved.

 D.Recommendations for revisions and modifications for better success in fulfilling the purposes and expectations of the program.

The Board will annually make available to the public the progress of the student body toward the goals of the District.

Assessment results obtained under this policy may be used to evaluate the progress of students, the effectiveness of the curriculum and the effectiveness of the school/delivery system, but they shall not be used for comparison purposes except as required by statute and State Department of Education Regulations or internally, as authorized by the Superintendent.
