2605 - PROGRAM EVALUATION

The Board of Education is cognizant of the need to evaluate its educational program offerings.

Therefore, the Board shall hold the school administration responsible for assuring that an evaluation is conducted, as prescribed in State Standards for Elementary and Secondary Schools, 3301.35-02 (e), in each of the following areas:

 A.Philosophy of Education - building and district-wide

 B.School District Educational Goals

 C.Curriculum

 D.Instruction

 E.Evaluation Procedures

 F.Educational Options, when used

To be successful, the program evaluation must be concerned with student activities, goals, materials, and methods of instruction.

The evaluation will be a cooperative effort involving school administration, staff members, and where applicable, board members and community members.

On-going evaluation of the educational programs is expected and the Board will expect the administration to recommend modifications of practices, content, and programs based on professional judgment and evidence from educational research.

The Board will also expect to hear regular reports on district educational programs at the regular meeting of the Board.

The following guidelines are established for decision making:

 A.assessment by staff, professional judgment

 B.testing, both classroom and district-wide

 C.longitudinal studies

 D.consideration of individual student comparisons for ability and achievement

 E.consultation between professionals within the District and/or outside consultants

 F.research-based data from a variety of sources
