The Superintendent shall have the authority to approve expenditures to cover the repair of buildings and other major capital equipment and/or facilities when an emergency has occurred. Emergency conditions may include unexpected events creating situations which impact the safety of individuals and/or property or which create the likelihood of imminent substantial further damage to facilities and/or equipment. Whenever possible the Superintendent shall attempt to notify the President of the Board regarding the situation, but in all cases is authorized to act in the best interests of the School District and the community. The Superintendent shall notify all Board members of the situation as soon as reasonably possible after acting to mitigate the situation. The Superintendent shall, as soon as possible, also notify the District insurance company of any situations which may be covered.
