7530.01 - STAFF USE OF WIRELESS COMMUNICATION DEVICES
The Board of Education recognizes that District provided wireless communication devices (WCDs) are essential for administrators to ensure the safety and security of students and facilities.
Further, that in the course of ensuring safety and security, administrators may be called upon to respond to District needs twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week.
Therefore, the District recognizes that personal use may occur on District owned WCDs, provided that:

Personal use does not jeopardize the professional relationships of the District due to inappropriate or illegal activity. |

B. |
Charges for personal use that are in addition to the District plan will be identified and paid for monthly by the employee using the WCD. |

C. |
The monthly itemized statement will constitute a calling log for employee verification. |
|
Use of WCDs is at the direction of the Superintendent. Excessive use of a District WCD for personal use is defined as:

WCD use for personal communications that result in additional expense to the District plan in excess of $100.00, unless prior permission is granted by the Superintendent. |
Discipline for excessive use will include:

Payment of the fees in excess of the District plan. |
Discipline for excessive use may also include one (1) or more of the following:

A. |
A verbal warning. |
|

B. |
A written warning. |
|
|
C. |
Restriction of WCD use. |
|
|
D. |
Removal of WCD use. |
|
Maintenance of District owned WCD will be at District expense. Loss or damage to a WCD may require the employee to reimburse the District for damages unless the plan replaces the device at no cost to the District.
