7460 - ENERGY MANAGEMENT AND RESOURCE CONSERVATION
The Board of Education believes it to be a District responsibility to ensure that every effort is made to conserve energy and natural resources while exercising sound financial management.
The implementation of this administrative guideline is the joint responsibility of the administration, staff and students and its success is based on cooperation at all levels.
The District will maintain accurate records of energy consumption and cost of energy and will provide information on the goals and progress of the energy conservation program.
The building administrator will be accountable for energy conservation on his/her campus with energy audits being conducted and conservation program outlines being updated. The use of the various energy systems of each campus will be the joint responsibility of the building administrator and the Grounds and Maintenance Director.
Specific areas include:
| A. | Every student and employee will be expected to contribute to energy efficiency in our District. Every person is encouraged to be an "energy saver" as well as an "energy consumer". | ||
| B. | All unnecessary lighting in unoccupied areas will be turned off. All lights will be turned off when students and staff leave school. Custodians will turn on lights only in the areas in which they are working. | ||
| C. | An assigned custodian at each school will be responsible for the completed and total shutdown of the facility when closed each evening. |
The Board directs the Superintendent and/or his/her agents to develop strategies in the areas of energy awareness, management and conservation.
