7420I - SAFE DRINKING WATER

Each school building shall provide the necessary safe drinking water protocol for testing and any necessary action in accordance with the Ohio Administrative Code.

The Director of Facilities shall cooperate with the Board of Health to identify potential hazards to drinking water, to monitor school drinking water for elevated levels of lead, and to remediate such conditions if found.

If required, water testing and any necessary remediation actions, such as flushing the plumbing system, shall be in accordance with the guidelines established by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the requirements of State law.

Inspection of water and waste water treatment systems shall include the following: If a school or school district owns, operates or manages the drinking water or waste water systems for a school building, the school or school district shall be in compliance with any applicable regulations of the Ohio environmental protection agency and the Ohio department of health and shall provide documentation of compliance to the sanitarian upon inspection.
