5113 - ADMISSION OF STUDENTS PARTICIPATING UNDERINTER-DISTRICT OPEN-ENROLLMENT
| A. | Any application for an inter-district transfer must be submitted to the Superintendent of the Defiance City Schools no earlier than May 1st for the following school year | ||
| Applications will be acted upon by August 15th. One application must be submitted for each student who requests an inter-district transfer. |
| B. | No inter-district transfer will be permitted if the enrollment of the grade level/section or course being requested exceeds the following: |

| C. | No student, once accepted by Defiance City Schools, will be displaced should enrollment exceed the limits stated above. | ||
| D. | Students receiving special education services will continue to be assigned to school buildings where the services specified in the student’s IEP are available. | ||
| E. | Because of yearly enrollment variation, applications must be re-submitted annually. Preference will be given to past open enrollment students desiring to continue attending the Defiance City Schools. | ||
| F. | Applicants shall be considered on a first come, first serve basis according to the date the application is received by the Superintendent. | ||
| G. | Applicants may be rejected if the racial balance of either the sending or the receiving school district would be negatively impacted. | ||
| H. | The Defiance City Schools will accept no responsibility for the transportation of open enrollment students; however, existing bus routes and bus stops may be used subject to approval of the administration. | ||
| I. | Inter-district open enrollment applications will not be approved for students having been expelled or suspended for ten (10) consecutive days or more by the district of residence in the prior school year. In addition, any punishment that carryover in to the school year in which the application is being made shall be cause for denial of the application. |
