2510C - DELINQUENT STUDENT TEXTBOOK RENTAL FEES

The following procedure is to be used to collect delinquent textbook rental fees.

Elementary Level

 

A.

At least thirty (30) days after the date the statement of fees was given to the parents of each elementary school student, a reminder notice will be given to the parents of each student with delinquent fees. Parents and emancipated minors who are eligible for financial assistance or whose application is pending are not to be considered delinquent.

     
 

B.

At least thirty (30) days after the reminder notice was given, a late payment warning will be given to the parents of each student. Parents and emancipated minors who are eligible for financial assistance or whose application is pending are not to be considered delinquent.

     
 

C.

If the delinquent rental has not been paid within thirty (30) days after the late payment warning was given, all relevant information concerning such delinquency will be given to the collection agency for collection and the addition of the collection fee. Parents and emancipated minors who are eligible for financial assistance or whose application is pending are not to be referred for collection.

Secondary Level

 

A.

At least thirty (30) days after the date the statement of fees was given to the parents of each secondary student and to each student who is an emancipated minor, a reminder notice will be given to the parents of each student with delinquent fees and to each student with delinquent fees who is an emancipated minor. Parents and emancipated minors who are eligible for financial assistance or whose application is pending are not to be considered delinquent.

     
 

B.

At least thirty (30) days after the reminder notice was given, a late payment warning will be given to the parents of each student. Parents and emancipated minors who are eligible for financial assistance or whose application is pending are not to be considered delinquent.

     
 

C.

If the delinquent rental has not been paid within thirty (30) days after the late payment warning was mailed, all relevant information concerning such delinquency will be given to the collection agency for collection. At that time, a notice of referral for collection is to be mailed to the parents of a student with delinquent fees and to each student with delinquent fees who is an emancipated minor, which indicates notice of referral to the collection agency for collection and the addition of the collection fee. Parents and emancipated minors who are eligible for financial assistance or whose application is pending are not to be referred for collection.
