2451 - ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL PLACEMENT

It is recognized that some students may be "at-risk" of not completing their education. Indicators of risk may include: teen pregnancy, personal/family crisis, substance abuse, hospital discharge, underachievement, chronic truancy and/or a history of behavior problems.

Procedure for Alternative Program Placement

 

A.

Whenever the principal determines that a student may benefit from an alternative school placement, a referral should be sent to the D.I.S.E. committee. The student and his/her parents should be informed, in writing, of this option, and an attempt shall be made to discuss this recommendation by telephone or in person.

     
 

B.

The D.I.S.E. committee will screen the recommendation and application, and set up an intake meeting with the student and parents.
