8600.01 - SEAT BELTS ON SCHOOL BUSES

It is the opinion of the Board of Education that equipping the District's school buses with seat belts to increase the safety features available for the protection of the District's students and, when properly worn, to enhance the safety of those students transported on the buses. The Board also believes that the use of seat belts in school buses reinforce the State law requirement that seat belts must be worn at all times in all other vehicles. For these reasons, the Board has equipped its school buses with seat belts for student use.

Therefore, it is the Board's policy that every student shall be required, and it is hereby made the duty of each student, to wear his/her seat belt at all times while being transported on a District school bus.
