It is the duty of the Board of Education to do all in its power to ensure and protect the safe passage of all students to and from school. The Block Parent Program has proven itself an effective addition to the safety program in many school districts. The Board hereby agrees to become a sponsoring agency for a Block Parent Program under the rules and regulations established by the Ohio State Department of Education.

"Block Parent Program" means a program in which individuals or families volunteer to have their homes or other buildings serve as places of temporary refuge for children to display a symbol identifying the home or building as such a place.

Although the Board has agreed to be the sponsoring agency for a Block Parent Program, only those individual school building attendance areas which indicate a commitment to the program, will be permitted to participate.

The Superintendent shall prepare administrative guidelines to implement this policy.
