7430.01 - OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY ACT POLICY
Safety has its roots in attitudes. A safety conscious attitude can be cultivated through a strong commitment by the management and employees of the Conneaut Area City Schools to the health and safety of all workers. Maintaining a safe and healthful work environment is a shared management and employee responsibility. Managers must establish the "safety culture" by demonstrating on a daily basis a high level of personal attention towards safety work practices. Employees must commit themselves to following established safe work practices, notifying management of any hazardous condition observed, taking action where appropriate to correct hazards, and promptly reporting accidents and near-misses that must be investigated and corrected.
Effective management of safety and industrial hygiene, fire prevention, handling of chemicals, and the aspects of emergency control occurs through the implementation of a variety of programs within the management of the "safety attitude" that is needed to establish a truly effective health and safety program.
These safety programs and all other aspects of operations shall be implemented by the Conneaut Area City Schools O.S.H.A. coordinator. Building principals and the O.S.H.A. coordinator shall be responsible to enforce all the O.S.H.A. regulations. The O.S.H.A. coordinator shall make periodic evaluations to insure compliance with all O.S.H.A. to ensure compliance with all O.S.H.A. regulations. The O.S.H.A. coordinator and/or the head building custodian shall hold regular "safety meetings' to disseminate information and discuss possible problems.
