3411 - PLACEMENT ON SALARY SCHEDULE

The Board of Education retains the authority to specify the salary of new positions and to determine the credit to be awarded for placement on an existing salary schedule.

The Superintendent is required to credit for placement on the salary schedule all past service of an applicant for employment in this District on the following basis:*

 A.In a chartered school or institution or a school or institution that subsequently became chartered or a chartered special education program or a special education program that became chartered operated by the State or by a subdivision or other local government unit of this State as a licensed teacher, regardless of training level; each year must consist of at least 120 days.

 B.Public elementary and secondary teaching in the same or other school districts in Ohio.

 C.Active military experience not to exceed five (5) years; military service must be eight (8) continuous months of service to be recognized as a year of authorized experience.

 D.All years of teaching service in a chartered, nonpublic school located in Ohio as a licensed teacher.

 E.The Superintendent is also authorized to credit for placement on the salary schedule all past service of an applicant for employment in this District in a public school or a chartered private school located in any other state or territory under U.S.A. cognizance including overseas dependent schools operated by the U.S. Armed Forces and a school approved by the State Department of Education and operated State Agency to a maximum of ten (10) years credit.

 F.In order to advance one step on a guide, a teaching staff member must have served in this District at least 120 school days.

Salaried teaching staff members who have been licensed by the Ohio Department of Education's Division of Teacher Education and Certification to perform professional services in the public and non-public schools of Ohio, but who have not yet earned a baccalaureate degree, shall be placed on the salary schedule adopted for licensed staff members at the appropriate step.

*If the District salary schedule exceeds the State minimum, each new teacher must be credited with a minimum five (5) year period.
