2451 - ALTERNATIVE SECONDARY EDUCATION

The Board of Education recognizes that the regular high school/secondary program may not be appropriate for all high school age level students. There may be students of high school age levels who need an education but are unable or unwilling to participate properly in the District's established program.

The Board shall provide an alternative secondary education program and learning environment for all District high school age level at-risk students, who are not succeeding in the regular school setting.

High school age level students who, in the opinion of the Superintendent, will benefit from this special program may follow the established procedure for placement in the alternative program. Young people, not currently enrolled in the District, may also attend upon meeting enrollment conditions prescribed by the Superintendent.

The Superintendent shall maintain appropriate administrative guidelines necessary to ensure effective implementation of this program.
