3120.04I - EMPLOYMENT OF GUEST TEACHERS

Process & Requirements for New Guest Teachers:

 A.Guest teachers are required to be twenty-one (21) years of age or older and hold an AA degree or higher.

 B.Complete online application including official transcripts, references and Teacher Insight Survey.

 C.Complete and successfully pass online training.

 D.A review committee will screen all completed applications for potential candidates.

 E.Interviews are conducted and references are checked.

 F.Fingerprinting and drug screening process is completed.

 G.New hire meeting to complete paperwork and be trained on the online substitute management system.

 H.One day training session with District trainer.

 I.Shadow a District classroom teacher for one day.

 J.District identification badge will be released to guest teachers by the District trainer while visiting each guest teacher in shadowed classroom.

 K.Guest teachers are entered into online substitute management system.

Retired Collier County Teachers/Guest Teachers (within past year):

 A.Complete online application.

 B.Two (2) professional references.

 C.Current Teacher Insight Survey.

 D.Complete and successfully pass online training.

 E.Fingerprinting and drug screening process is completed and updated as needed.

 F.New hire meeting.

 G.Guest teachers are entered into online substitute management system.

Retired Collier County Teachers/Guest Teachers (not within past year)

 A.Complete online application.

 B.Two (2) professional references.

 C.Current Teacher Insight Survey.

 D.Complete and successfully pass online training.

 E.Fingerprinting and drug screening process is completed and updated as needed.

 F.New hire meeting.

 G.Shadow a District classroom teacher for one day.

 H.District identification badge will be released to guest teachers by District trainer while visiting each guest teacher in shadowed classroom.

 I.Guest teachers are entered into online substitute management system.

Long-Term Guest Teachers:

In the absence of a regular teacher, a long-term guest teacher shall be employed when it is known or determined that the regular teacher will be absent for more than thirty (30) consecutive days or for the remainder of the school year. Beginning on the thirty-first (31st) consecutive date of the regular teacher's absence, the long-term guest teacher shall be paid on the teacher salary schedule and shall assume the full duties of a regular teacher. The long-term guest teacher will not receive benefits except as required by law.

All guest teachers are subject to restriction/termination based on administrator input with the following consequences:

 A.First occurrence Guest teachers are required to retake/take online training. Aesop will be re-activated upon successful completion of on-line training.

 B.Second occurrence Guest teachers are required to shadow two different teachers. Aesop will be re-activated upon completion of shadowing two (2) teachers.

 C.Third occurrence Guest Teachers are terminated.
