5112 - ENTRANCE AGE

The Board of Education shall establish student entrance age requirements which are consistent with Michigan Law and sound educational practice and which ensure equitable treatment.

 A.Kindergarten
  A child is eligible for entrance into kindergarten if s/he attains the age of five (5) on or before December 1st of the year in which s/he applies for entrance, meets residence requirements, meets State Immunization laws, and provides a County or State birth certificate. The child may not be placed in an alternative program without permission of the parent.

 B.Preschool Age Students with Disabilities
  Readiness programs may be provided for children of preschool age, if they have been certified in accordance with the rules of the State and are part of a district's special education program.
  The District may contract such programs through nonpublic organizations or institutions, but may not contract with any nonlicensed institutions.
