5112 - ENTRANCE AGE
The Board of Education shall establish student entrance age requirements which are consistent with Michigan Law and sound educational practice and which ensure equitable treatment.
| A. | Kindergarten | ||
| A child is eligible for entrance into kindergarten if s/he attains the age of five (5) on or before December 1st of the year in which s/he applies for entrance, meets residence requirements, meets State Immunization laws, and provides a County or State birth certificate. The child may not be placed in an alternative program without permission of the parent. | |||
| B. | Preschool Age Students with Disabilities | ||
| Readiness programs may be provided for children of preschool age, if they have been certified in accordance with the rules of the State and are part of a district's special education program. | |||
| The District may contract such programs through nonpublic organizations or institutions, but may not contract with any nonlicensed institutions. |
