5463 - CREDITS FROM NONPUBLIC SCHOOLS

In recognizing its responsibility to uphold the minimum educational standards of the State of Michigan, the Board of Education establishes the following policy and criteria regarding the acceptance of credits from nonpublic schools whether they be State-approved, nonapproved, or home schools.

For credit or course-work to be accepted for courses taken in such schools, assurance of compliance with minimum requirements established by the State must be provided.

Recognition of credits or course-work may be granted when the proper assurance and the student's transcript has been received. The District reserves the right to assess such transfer students in order to determine credit granted, proper placement and to be assured the student can demonstrate the learnings which are prerequisite to granting credit and placement. Testing or other forms of assessment may be necessary to properly grant credit and place a student.

Credits from nonpublic schools may be granted and placed on a student's transcript. Grades on up to six (6) carnegie units will be entered on the transcript, grades on the transcript will be considered for class ranking, provided the student is in school and a Chippewa Valley resident during the sixth and seventh semester.
