2450 - ADULT EDUCATION

The Board of Education will consider an adult high school continuation program as prescribed in the statute, when the demand meets the criteria established by the State Board of Education for reimbursement.

The Centerburg Board of Education will admit to day school, adults who desire to complete requirements for a high school diploma. However, the following administrative guidelines shall be in effect for adult student:

 A.Will be required to pay tuition at the rate determined by the state.

 B.Must provide own transportation.

 C.Will not be eligible to participate in extra curricular activities.

 D.Will be required to attend classes only. May leave the school grounds at all other times.

 E.Shall be permitted to register for those classes where regular student enrollment is not already too great. In other words, the regular students must be given first opportunities.

 F.Shall be expected to abide by the policies and guidelines of the Board of Education and school administration.

 G.May participate in all graduation exercises if they have fully met the requirements for a diploma.

Returning Veterans

Returning veterans who have dropped out of school and wish to resume their education will be accepted under the Veterans Administration Program and be permitted to earn a High School diploma as required by state law without tuition. They shall be subject to the same administrative guidelines as other adult and regular students.

Additional Adult Education courses are available on a regular basis at Knox County Joint Vocational School.
