1230 - SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS
The administration of the school system in all of its aspects shall be delegated to the Superintendent of Schools, who shall carry out his/her administrative functions in accord with the policies adopted by the Board. The execution of all decisions shall be delegated to the Superintendent.
| A. | The Superintendent of 'Schools shall serve as the executive officer of the Board of Education and shall be charged with the responsibility for implementing the policies of the Board. S/He shall prepare the agenda for each meeting, and shall attend all Board meetings except when his/her contract is being considered, and participate in all deliberations of the Board when such deliberations do not involve his/her employment. | B. | S/He shall be directly responsible to the Board of Education. | ||
| C. | S/He shall administer the schools in conformity with the adopted policies of the Board, and the rules and regulations of the State Department of Education, and in accordance with the state law. | ||
| D. | S/He shall develop administrative principles and procedures for implementing Board policies. | ||
| E. | S/He, with the staff, shall provide a continuous appraisal of all policies. | ||
| F. | S/He shall recommend employees for appointment, demotion, transfer, or dismissal in accordance with the policies of the Board. | ||
| G. | S/He shall assign instructional and noninstructional personnel. | ||
| H. | S/He shall prepare and submit to the Board for approval the courses of study and curriculums to be offered in the schools of the District. | ||
| I. | S/He shall select and recommend for adoption all textbooks and supplementary instructional materials. In preparation of such courses of study, and in the selection of such textbooks, s/he shall have the cooperation of other officers of instruction and of such special committees of teachers, principals, supervisors, and other representatives as s/he may appoint. | ||
| J. | S/He shall direct the formulation of and the revision of salary schedules within the financial resources of the community, and make recommendations to the Board. | ||
| K. | S/He shall direct the in-service training of teachers and principals through conferences, workshops, group discussions, committee studies, and use of consultants. | ||
| L. | S/He shall develop and supervise a program of continuous curriculum improvement for all levels of' instruction. | ||
| M. | S/He shall visit, at least monthly, each of the schools in the district, giving attention to its organization, discipline, and instruction, and directing teachers from time to time so make changes, not contrary to adopted rules, as seem advisable for the efficiency of the schools. | ||
| N. | S/He shall represent the needs and promote public interest and support of the schools before civic groups or whatever opportunity offers. |
O S/He, or designee, will evaluate annually, in writing, each administrator by March 31st, except for the year in which the contract expires. In this case, the evaluation must be done by January 31st. (R.C. 3319.02)
| P. | S/he shall perform such other duties as the Board of Education may determine. (R. C. 3319.01) | ||
| Q. | S/he shall prepare the annual budget in cooperation with the Treasurer, submit the budget to the Board of Education and administer the budget as approved. |
